1961 National Baseball Congress World Series
The 1961 National Baseball Congress World Series was won by the Ponchatoula Athletics, who became the first team from Louisiana to win the tournament. They beat the Grand Rapids Sullivans 9-8 in the title game. It was the first (and only) NBC championship for the Athletics. This was a repeat of the 1960 final which was won by the Sullivans.
MVP of the tournament was Grand Rapids third baseman Al Ware, a former White Sox minor leaguer.
