The 1982 Atlanta Braves began the season by winning their first 13 games. Led by 1982 National League Most Valuable Player Award winner Dale Murphy, the Braves won the National League West after a close race with the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants.
However, they were swept by the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Championship Series.
