The 1992 International League season was the 107th in the league's history, and ended with the Columbus Clippers winning their second straight Governors' Cup. The Clippers' 95 wins were the most in the league since the Toronto Maple Leafs had 100 wins in 1960. Columbus fittingly dominated the All-Star team with 8 of 11 selections. 5 of Columbus's 9 starters led the IL in average, hits, runs, doubles, homers, RBI or steals; no other team had a leader in any of those major categories.

With the dissolution of the Triple-A Alliance, the IL expanded the playoffs to include the top two teams in each division.
