1993 Asian Championship
The 1993 Asian Championship was the 17th Asian Championship. It was held from February 26 through March 7 in Perth, Western Australia. The top three teams qualified for the 1994 Baseball World Cup. It was not only Australia's last time hosting an Asian Championship, but their last time playing in one, as they joined the Oceanic baseball federation after this and have been competing with inferior baseball countries since.
Japan cruised to victory, going 8-0. Yuichi Yanagisawa was MVP of the final round while Masafumi Nishi was named the tourney's best defensive player and tied for the most steals. Hideaki Okubo led in RBI.
South Korea won Silver, going 5-1 in the first round and 1-1 in the final round.
Australia was 3-3 in round one and 0-2 in round two as the hosts fell shy of a Medal.
People's Republic of China placed 5th at 1-4.
North Korea went 1-4; it was their only appearance in an Asian Championship through 2008.
Philippines was last at 0-6.
