The 2017 Pacific League Rookie of the Year Award went easily to Seibu Lions shortstop Sosuke Genda, who got 252 of 258 votes. He had led the Pacific League with ten triples while batting .270/.317/.351. He stole 37 bases as well. Also getting votes were Shuta Ishikawa of the Softbank Hawks (2), Taisuke Yamaoka of the Orix Buffaloes (2), Softbank's Takuya Kai (1) and Yuhei Takanishi from the Rakuten Golden Eagles (1).
