Biographical Information[edit]
A.J. Heinemann was a minor league executive.
Heinemann got his start in baseball selling food and soda at the New Orleans Pelicans home park. He became the team's secretary in 1904 and vice president in 1912. In 1914, he became president of the club and helped orchestrate construction of a new stadium (named Heinemann Park after him). He signed Shoeless Joe Jackson, Dazzy Vance and Joe Sewell for New Orleans and helped the team to five Southern Association titles. He committed suicide over depression from the financial losses he suffered during the Great Depression.
