Al Boucher played twelve seasons in pro ball, of which one was in the Federal League in its first season, 1914. He is one of the few players with over 500 at-bats in a single major league year. He was the regular third baseman on the St. Louis Terriers that year, who were managed for most of the season by Mordecai Brown, and he came close to leading the team in plate appearances.
He was not a great hitter at the major or minor league level, so presumably he held down a job by virtue of good fielding. He played third base and shortstop in the minors.
