Biographical Information[edit]
A first round pick in 1989, it took Alan Zinter over a decade to make his MLB debut.
In 2015, Zinter became a major league coach for the first time as assistant hitting coach of the Houston Astros. In 2016, he was named hitting coach of the San Diego Padres, staying until he was fired on September 1, 2017 and was only formally replaced after the end of the season. Minor league hitting instructor Luis Ortiz took over for him in the interim.
In 2020, he was named hitting coach of the Cincinnati Reds.
