Alessandro Zoufal has pitched for the Austrian national team.

Zoufal played for Austria in U18 and U23 tournaments. [1] He made his Austrian Baseball League debut in 2016, going 1 for 5 for the Wiener Neustadt Diving Ducks at age 16. [2] Becoming a regular in '17, he hit .185/.236/.198, followed by .221/.261/.279 in 2018 and .163/.273/.186 in 2019. He became a pitcher that year, going 1-0 with 2 2/3 shutout innings. [3]

In 2020, he made big strides at .303/.357/.348 with 22 RBI in 20 games. He was 7th in Austria in RBI and tied for 9th in hits (27). [4] The next year, he drove in 30 runs in 25 games and hit .336/.362/.491; he was 2-1 with a 9.82 ERA. He tied for 6th in hits and tied Georgii Gvrytishvili for 9th in RBI. [5]

With Austria for the 2021 European Championship, he was used as a pitcher, even though he had more success to that point in his career as a batter. He was roughed up in two outings. Against Italy, he relieved Brian Fürböck with a 10-1 deficit in the 7th. He hit Erick Epifano, got Andrea Sellaroli on a fly, allowed a single to Noel Gonzalez and walked Leo Ferrini. He struck out minor league veteran Dario Pizzano but Vito Friscia then hit a grand slam to end the game due to the mercy rule. His other contest, he succeeded Fabian Hirnschal with one out in the 6th, the bases loaded and a 8-4 deficit versus Russia. He allowed a RBI single to Maksim Makarkin, threw a wild pitch to let in another and then surrendered a three-run shot to Maxim Monakhov. He retired David Castillo then Kiril Chermoshentsev doubled before Geidys Soler flew out. Jak Simonsen took over in the 7th. His 40.500 ERA tied Per Sjörs for the third-highest in the 2021 Euros; teammate Omar Dueñas and Sergii Shtapura were higher. [6]
