Biographical Information[edit]

Arturo Nieto has played in the minors and has been on the Venezuelan national team.

He was signed by Seattle Mariners scouts Emilio Carrasquel and Illich Salazar. [1] He hit .231/.307/.286 for the 2011 VSL Mariners and threw out 43% of those who tried to steal. The next year with the same team, it was 50% but his offense fell to .140/.275/.233. He still moved up to the DSL Mariners for 2013 and picked up the pace at the plate (.299/.428/.340) while gunning down an impressive 55%. He came stateside in 2014, seeing little action for the AZL Mariners (.179/.343/.179 in 12 G) and High Desert Mavericks (0for 13, BB, HBP).

With the '15 Everett AquaSox, he posted a .288/.363/.331 batting line. He got to full-season ball with the 2016 Clinton Lumber Kings, producing at a .228/.276/.287 rate and throwing out 38%. He made his Venezuelan Winter League debut with the Tigres de Aragua, going 1 for 2. For 2017, he appeared for the Modesto Nuts and hit .237/.310/.346 with a 36% caught stealing rate. His time in the M's chain over, he moved to the independent leagues, hitting .257/.356/.3567 for the 2019 Southern Illinois Miners. That winter, he batted .250/.333/.321 for the Navegantes del Magallanes. In 2020-2021, he was 4 for 30 with a double, four walks and five runs for Magallanes.

With Southern Illinois in 2021 (most indies shut down in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic), he hit .226/.299/.301 and threw out 38%. He also took time to be with Venezuela in the 2021 Americas Olympic Qualifier but did not get into a game as Robinson Chirinos did the catching. [2]
