Biographical Information[edit]
B.J. Waszgis played 23 games for the Texas Rangers in 2000, primarily as a catcher. He also played 12 seasons in the minors, hitting 132 home runs.
His top home run total in the minors was 23 in 96 games with the Calgary Cannons in 2001. Being a catcher, he had fewer than 400 at-bats during most of his years in the minors.
Ivan Rodriguez was the regular catcher for the 2000 Rangers, slugging .667. Waszgis also played some first base for the Rangers, where Rafael Palmeiro was the regular who hit 39 home runs.
