Biographical Information[edit]
Bill Yeatman, from Alexandria, VA, was in one game with the Washington Nationals in 1872. He played right field.
Yeatman is listed as being 34 years old, quite elderly for a team whose average age was 21.3. There were only two players older than age 25.
Yeatman played in the team's first game of the season, one which was apparently attended by 200 spectators.
Yeatman is one of only a handful of players to have the same date of debut, final game date and day of death (April 20). The others to have accomplished this 'feat' include Lou Raymond and Ray Miner.
A research site [1] says Bill played amateur ball through 1866.
