Biographical Information[edit]

Bob Stewart began his umpiring career in the New England League in 1947-1948. He moved on to the Interstate League (1948-1949), Eastern League (1950), and American Association (1951-1959). Stewart was then an American League umpire from July 1959 to 1970. He was first promoted to replace Frank Tabacchi, who had been demoted to the A.A. He worked a total of 1,958 games over those 13 seasons. He worked the first-ever ALCS, in 1969, as well as three World Series, in 1961, 1965 and 1970. He was also an umpire in the 1962 All-Star Game - First Game and 1969 All-Star Game.
