Catcher Brook Fordyce played ten seasons in the major leagues. In the middle of his career in the majors he hit for a good average, with a .297 average for the Chicago White Sox in 1999 and .301 between the White Sox and Baltimore Orioles in 2000. The White Sox went on to win their division that year, but he was traded in July and never played in the postseason.
Brook came close to death in January 2002 when an artery burst and sent five pints of blood into his stomach.
