Biographical Information[edit]
Charles Donnelly was a National League umpire in 1931 and 1932 and an American League umpire in 1934 and 1935. He worked a full season each of the four t=years he was in the majors.
A catcher and outfielder, he played in the minor leagues from 1909 to 1925, changing team just about every year. He was drafted by the Washington Senators and Boston Red Sox at different points, but never made the majors. Playing for the Bay City Beavers in 1915, he led the Southern Michigan League with a .387 average and 87 hits.
After his major league umpiring career, he was in the International League from 1936 to 1940 and in the Florida East Coast League in 1941.
