Biographical information

Frederick Charles "Chuck" "Bobo" Brayton coached Yakima Valley Community College to nine NWAACC Baseball Championships in ten years between 1952 and 1961. He then coached Washington State University from 1962 to 1994. He led the team to the College World Series in 1965 and 1976. Brayton won 1,162 games as the coach at WSU. Brayton was the fifth D-I college coach to reach 1,000 wins on April 11, 1990. He managed Team USA in the 1971 Pan American Games (the US won Silver, finishing behind Cuba) and coached for the US when they won the 1974 Amateur World Series. The Cougars play home games at Bailey-Brayton Field.

As a player, he was the American Baseball Coaches Association All-American shortstop for the Cougars in 1947.

Brayton managed the Tri-City Posse of the independent Western League in 1996.
