Biographical Information[edit]

Dae-woong Bae was on the second South Korean national team to win Gold in an Asian Championship, in 1975. He remained with them for the 1975 Intercontinental Cup. He was also with them for their first Gold in a global tournament, the 1977 Intercontinental Cup. When they took Bronze in the 1978 Amateur World Series, he hit .256/.286/.286 with 5 runs and 5 RBI in 10 games. He handled 41 chances error-free at second base while playing every inning of every game there. He helped South Korea to win Silver in the 1980 Amateur World Series (their first Silver in an Amateur World Series) andSilver in the 1981 World Games. He also was with them for the 1981 Intercontinental Cup.

Bae was with the Samsung Lions when the Korea Baseball Organization played its first season, in 1982. He hit .230/.304/.332 and went 7-for-9 in steal attempts. He batted .285/.353/.373 in 1983, .240/.313/.260 in 1984, .273/.312/.391 in 1985 and .266/.310/.330 in 1986. In five seasons as a pro, he had batted .259/.321/.345. He stole 24 bases in 31 tries.

He later was a coach for Samsung, the Hanwha Eagles and the Lotte Giants, spending about 15 years as a coach in the KBO.
