Dennis Denning won two national titles.
Denning was head coach at Cretin-Derham High School from 1978 to 1994, winning six state titles and going 379-76. In 1995, he became head coach at the University of St. Thomas and held that role until 2009, going 522-157. He guided St. Thomas to titles in the 2001 Division III College World Series and 2009 Division III College World Series, retiring after the second title.
Denning was part of a set of historic international matches in 2000. In January 2000, St. Thomas played two games against the University of Havana, becoming only the third American professional or college team to go to Cuba during the Fidel Castro era. That May, they hosted a Cuban team visiting the USA.
