Pitcher Dennis Rasmussen is the grandson of Bill Brubaker.
He moved around a lot during his career. He was originally selected by the California Angels in the 1st round of the 1980 amateur draft, then was traded to the New York Yankees as the player to be named later in return for Tommy John after the 1982 season. In 1983, he was traded to the San Diego Padres in return for John Montefusco and made his major league debut with the Padres that September. But the following spring, he headed back to New York in a trade for Graig Nettles. After a few seasons with New York, he was sent to the Cincinnati Reds in return for Bill Gullickson late in 1987, then a few weeks into the 1988 season was traded again, returning to San Diego in exchange for Candy Sierra. He later played for the Chicago Cubs and Kansas City Royals.
He made his major league debut in 1983 just before the final appearance of his namesake Eric Rasmussen, although the two were not related. Both had some success with the Padres and finished their career with the Royals.
