Emilio Salgado Quesada
Emilio led the 1967-1968 Serie Nacional with 111 walks for the Vegueros. In 1968-1969, he set the Serie Nacional record for innings pitched (230 1/3). He also led the league in hits allowed (198), complete games (20, tied with Roberto Valdés) and starts (25, tied with Santiago Mederos and Óscar Romero). Pitching for Pinar del Río in 1969-1970, he led the loop in walks (62) and tied Gaspar Legón for the most starts (16). In the 1970 Amateur World Series, Salgado was 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA to help Cuba win the Gold. He had a 1-0, 0.90 record when Cuba won the 1971 Pan American Games. Overall, he pitched nine seasons in the Serie Nacional, with a 50-53, 2.55 record. Opponents hit .223 against him and he walked 414 in 912 1/3 IP while striking out 682.
