Biographical Information

Fred Frankhouse pitched thirteen years in the majors, largely on the strength of a great curveball.

His whole career was with three teams in the National League. He made a notable debut at age 23 with the 1927 Cardinals, going 5-1 with a 2.70 ERA.

In the middle of his fourth season in the majors, he was traded to the Boston Braves in the Burleigh Grimes deal. He would stay with Boston through 1935, going 16-15 in 1933 and 17-9 in 1934. He made the All Star team in 1934. His manager the whole time with the Boston team was Bill McKechnie.

He was traded after the 1935 season to Brooklyn, where he spent three seasons, and then finished out his major league career back with Boston for one season.

In all, he started about half his games and had a record of 106-97.
