Team History[edit]
The Fredericksburg Nationals, of the Carolina League and briefly Low-A East, were the Potomac Nationals from 1984 through 2019. The Washington Nationals farmhands play their home games at Virginia Credit Union Stadium in Fredericksburg, VA.
The P-Nats had tried for years to get a new ballpark in Prince William County, VA, with Minor League Baseball issuing waivers for the substandard G. Richard Pfitzner Stadium - more and more reluctantly - from 2012 on. MLB's 2021 Minor League Reorganization lowered the FredNats one level - before they had played a High-A game under their new brand in their new playpen.
The 2021 FredNats got off to a terrible start on the field, losing their first 15 games before finally winning one on May 21st, but they sold out more than half of their home games.
One of the team logos features Fredericksburger Mary Washington, the mother of the father of our country.
