Biographical Information[edit]
Shortstop Gary Disarcina was signed by the California Angels and scout Jon Niederer as a 6th round pick in the 1988 amateur draft.
Gary managed the Lowell Spinners of the Class A New York-Penn League, a Boston Red Sox affiliate, in 2007-2009. He was then the Red Sox's Minor League infield coordinator.
In 2011, Disarcina returned to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim organization as special assistant to the general manager. He was appointed the team's third base coach in 2014, then moved over to the first base coaching job in 2016. In 2017, he was the bench coach for the Boston Red Sox and served as interim manager when John Farrell took a couple of days off to see his son, pitcher Luke Farrell, make his major league debut. He was let go when Farrell was fired following the Division Series, but on November 4th was hired by the New York Mets to be their bench coach in 2018 under new manager Mickey Callaway. In 2019, he moved to third base coach in a move dictated by new GM Brodie Van Wagenen and stayed there until the end of the 2021 season. In 2022, he became third base coach of the Washington Nationals.
Disarcina is the brother of minor leaguer Glenn DiSarcina.
