Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher George Snyder tossed only a single game in his big league career, but it was a good one. He threw a complete game, allowing only four hits and two walks in the nine inning affair. Typical of 1800s baseball, he allowed three unearned runs (and zero earned runs) and didn't strike out a single batter. He had just turned 34 years old when he pitched in the majors.
George became a police officer after his pro days, and played on the police ballclub. During one game he apparently exerted himself too much in trying to stretch a double into a triple, and complained about the exertion until he died three weeks later. [1]
