Biographical Information[edit]
George Susce pitched five years in the major leagues. He pitched for the Boston Red Sox at the same time as Dave Sisler, who was the same age as George and was also a second-generation major leaguer, and then both moved to the Detroit Tigers (Susce in 1958, Sisler in 1959).
Susce went 9-7 in his rookie year with the Red Sox in 1955, and 7-3 in his third year in 1957.
Susce's father George Susce was a coach for the Boston Red Sox in 1954, before George came up, but not in 1955 when George was a rookie. His brother, Paul Susce, pitched one season in the minors (1957).
Susce missed most of 1952 and all of 1953 due to military service.
