Biographical Information[edit]
Gus Tebell was a college coach.
Tebell was All-American in football and All-Conference in basketball in college. He was an All-NFL end for the 1923 Columbia Tigers and also coached them for three games. He played for Columbia in 1924 as well. Tebell then became a college football coach. He coached baseball at the University of Virginia from 1931-1943 and again from 1945-1955, while also managing the Staunton Presidents for part of 1941. Among his products were Hank Foiles, Mel Roach, Joe Hicks, Bill Harman and Buck Rogers.
