Harvey Lennox Watkins
- Height Unknown, Weight Unknown
Harvey Watkins' main experience prior to becoming manager of the New York Giants for 35 games in 1895 was as a circus manager for Barnum & Bailey. After managing a baseball team, he went back to the circus, and eventually also worked with the Buffalo Bill Wild West Show. It is said that he had accepted the post of baseball manager with reluctance.
Not surprisingly, when he left the New York Giants to go back to Barnum & Bailey, the press happily crowed that he had switched circuses. He authored a book in 1901 entitled: Four Years in Europe: The Barnum & Bailey greatest show on earth in the Old World.
He married an English woman and they eventually moved to London. They both died when their furnace malfunctioned.
