He tied Junmar Diarao for 7th in the event in IP, tied for first with two wild pitches, tied for first in starts (with Haonan Zhang, Rizwan Ali, Romeo Jasmin Jr. and Sasika Dulshan) and tied Muhammad Taimoor Javed for 4th in hits allowed.
He was then the first-round pick of the kt Wiz. He had a strong rookie season at 13-6, 3.86. He tied Jong-hoon Park for 8th in the 2020 KBO in wins and would have made the top 10 in ERA had he qualified. He was the first rookie pitcher fresh from high school to hit double-digit wins since Hyun-jin Ryu 13 years prior. He won KBO Rookie of the Year handily; teammate Mel Rojas Jr. took the MVP.
