James H. Gifford
Jim Gifford was the manager of the Indianapolis Hoosiers in 1884 and of the New York Metropolitans in 1885 and for part of 1886. Both teams played in the American Association.
Prior to his managerial debut, he had umpired three National League games in 1881.
