Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Jim Poole was signed as a 9th round pick in the 1988 amateur draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers and scout Tommy Mixon. He had won the Silver Medal in the 1987 Pan American Games with Team USA.
Pitching for the Cleveland Indians, he allowed a game-winning solo home run to the Atlanta Braves' David Justice in the sixth and deciding game of the 1995 World Series.
Poole was diagnosed with "Lou Gehrig's Disease" in 2021 [1]. He appeared at Camden Yards in 2022 on Lou Gehrig Day, while his son threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
