Joe Raccuia was a college coach for over twenty years.
Raccuia graduated from Radford University in 1995 and became an assistant there under Lew Kent in 1996. He then spent 1997-1999 as hitting coach and recruiting coordinator at George Washington University. Raccuia moved to George Mason University as hitting coach for the 2000-2003 seasons. He was head coach at Marist College in 2004-2005, going 58-51.
In 2006-2007, he was recruiting coordinator and hitting coach at the University of Alabama. He then returned to Radford, now as head coach, in July 2007. Inheriting a 10-win club, he got 24 wins in 2008 then was 26-24 in 2009, only the 5th winning season in school annals. He won over 400 games and took the 2015 & 2017 Radford teams to the NCAA tournament before stepping down after the 2019 season. He was then offered a coach with the New York Mets chain.
