Biographical Information[edit]
John Carbine played in both the National Association and National League, primarily as a first baseman. Later in 1876, he played for Milwaukee, and in 1878 he played for Indianola as a second baseman. The book The League that Lasted describes Carbine, while with the Louisville Grays in the National League's first season, as impressing onlookers with his defensive ability at first base. After baseball, he worked in the printing industry.
