Biographical Information[edit]
John Fischer pitched briefly for the Philadelphia Keystones of the Union Association in 1884 and the Buffalo Bisons of the National League in 1886. He was for decades listed in the Baseball Encyclopedia simply as "J. Fisher". He was formally identified thanks to an item in Sporting Life in 1886 which provided an address for him. This allowed modern researchers to track him through city directories and census records until his death.
