Biographical Information[edit]
John Fox pitched four seasons in the majors during the 1880's. He also played some in the field, usually in the outfield, although he was not a strong hitter.
He was added to the "blacklist" at a 1881 National League Meeting barring him from playing for or against any NL team. He was reinstated in 1883.
His obituary in Sporting Life stated that he died of pneumonia. In years previous to that he had played for semi-pro teams.
