Josue Perez briefly reached AAA as a player.

Perez defected from Cuba. In 1998, he signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He started '99 with the Vero Beach Dodgers and hit .279/.350/.388. In June, Major League Baseball ruled that the Dodgers had illegally signed Perez and Juan Diaz. Perez then inked a $850,000 deal with the Philadelphia Phillies. He hit .247/.301/.269 in 23 games for the Clearwater Threshers after the deal, not what Philadelphia had paid for.

In 2000, he hit .297/.370/.419 with 18 steals in 32 tries for Clearwater and .240/.302/.344 for the Reading Phillies. He had 8 outfield assists and fielded .991 for the year. Perez was awful with Reading in 2001 (.168/.236/.210 in 50 G) and played 10 games for the GCL Phillies (.308/.386/.436). The next year, he batted .214/.268/.270 for Reading. Perez split 2003 between Clearwater (.286/.344/.357 in 13 G), Reading (.306/.350/.377 in 48 G) and the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons (.220/.265/.260 in 32 G).

Perez batted .213/.289/.213 for Reading in 2004. He ended his playing career in 2005 with the AZL Rangers (1 for 7, 2B) and the Bakersfield Blaze (1 for 14, 2 BB). Overall, he had hit .251/.314/.325 in 436 games in pro ball.

Perez managed the DSL Rangers in 2006-2007, going 56-78. He was hitting coach for the AZL Rangers in 2008, Spokane Indians in 2009-2011, Hickory Crawdads in 2012 and Myrtle Beach Pelicans in 2013-2014. Perez spent 2015-2019 as the minor league hitting coordinator for the Texas Rangers. He was scheduled to be hitting coach of the Frisco RoughRiders in 2020 before the season was cancelled due to Covid-19 then did coach Frisco in 2021. Perez moved to the Arizona Diamondbacks organization as a coach for the ACL Diamondbacks Black in 2022.
