Biographical Information[edit]
Kanoe Chuma was the first person to translate the term "baseball" into the Japanese "yakyu" in 1894. In 1897, he published Yakyu, the first book on baseball in Japanese with notes and illustrations.
Chuma was inducted into the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame in 1970.
