Matsutaro Shoriki Award
The Matsutaro Shoriki Award is given annually to the player or manager who contributed the most to Japanese baseball by the Yomiuri Group. It was first given out in 1978 and is named after Japanese baseball and media pioneer Matsutaro Shoriki. In 2004, Ichiro Suzuki of the Seattle Mariners won a special award. In 2021, Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Angels and Atsunori Inaba of the Japanese national team won special awards.
