Biographical Information[edit]

Miguel Bonilla has been a minor league coach.

Bonilla signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1990. He was 1-2 with four saves and a 4.41 ERA for the 1991 GCL Pirates. He went 3-3 with 3 saves and a 3.42 ERA for the 1992 Welland Pirates, walking only 10 in 50 innings. He split 1993 between the Augusta Pirates (1-0, 7.16, 43 H in 27 2/3 IP) and Lethbridge Mounties (4-8, 2.87). He was 6th in the Pioneer League in ERA but also led in hits allowed (105). In 1994, Miguel was only 1-9 with a 5.83 ERA for the Duluth-Superior Dukes. Returning to the Pirates organization, he allowed one run in 4 2/3 IP for the 1995 GCL Pirates. As a player-coach in '96, he gave up 3 runs in 3 innings for that team.

Bonilla was a full-time coach for the DSL Pirates from 1997-1999. He was pitching coach of the Williamsport Crosscutters in 2000-2001, GCL Pirates from 2002-2011 and 2013, and Bristol Pirates in 2014. Bonilla was pitching coach of the GCL Red Sox in 2019. Bonilla moved to the New York Mets' chain as a coach for the FCL Mets in 2021-2022.
