Biographical Information[edit]

Minoru Hayakawa pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball and for the Japanese national team.

Hayakawa was with Japan when they won Silver in the 1975 Intercontinental Cup, teaming with Makoto Kudo in a shutout of South Korea. The Chunichi Dragons took him in the 4th round of the 1975 NPB draft. He was 2-1 with a save and a 4.21 ERA in 20 games in 1976. He had a 4.76 ERA in six appearances in 1977 and gave up 5 runs in 4 IP in 1978 to finish at 2-1, 5.09 in 28 NPB games.

He won an ERA title in the minor Western League in 1978. He later was a batting practice, coach and scout for Chunichi at different times. He is credited with the signings of Masahiro Araki and Shigeki Noguchi. He later scouted for the Rakuten Golden Eagles.
