Nick Veltkamp made his Hoofdklasse debut in 2003 with Almere. In 2005, he was 2-2 with a 5.86 ERA for that club. During 2006, he went 1-5 with a save and a 4.68 ERA, walking 45 in 59 2/3 IP. He was 4th in the league in games (22) and walks.
In the 2007 Hoofdklasse, Nick was 3-5 with a 3.41 ERA while moving into the starting rotation. The next season, the southpaw joined Corendon Kinheim. Back to the bullpen, he excelled, with a 5-2, 1.99 record. He allowed a .208 average, 4th in the circuit. He was fifth in ERA behind Rob Cordemans, David Bergman, Kevin Heijstek and Leon Boyd. His 21 appearances tied Aristides Almenar for fifth in the league. He allowed 5 hits and 2 runs in 1 2/3 IP in the 2008 Holland Series.
Veltkamp was with the Netherlands for the 2008 Haarlem Baseball Week, walking 3 while retiring only two.
Veltkamp also pitched in the 2008 European Cup, allowing one run in 3 innings in the Grosseto phase. He tossed 4 2/3 shutout innings and fanned six in the 2009 European Cup's Matino phase, then was 0-1 with 2 runs in 1/3 of an inning in the Final Four of the Cup, dropping the decision to Nettuno. In the 2009 World Port Tournament, he allowed 7 hits, 5 runs and 4 walks in just four innings.
Veltkamp made his debut for the Dutch national team in a major event during the 2009 Baseball World Cup.
