Philadelphia Giants
The Philadelphia Giants were a Negro League team based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The team was founded in 1902 by Sol White and H. Walter Schlichter. The team was one of the top teams in the early 1900s winning the mythic black national championship from 1905, 1906, and 1907. Prominent players who were on the Giants include Frank Grant, Pete Hill, Bill Monroe, Louis Santop, and Home Run Johnson. The team disbanded in 1916.
In later years, a number of lower-tier barnstorming Negro teams used the name "Philadelphia Giants", though none bore any relation to the original team.
