Biographical Information[edit]

Ricky Meinhold played college ball at West Valley College and Drury University and graduated from the latter in 2008 with a degree in exercise sport science. He later earned a master's degree in college athletic administration from Coker College while also working there as a coach. Meinhold once threw 32 2/3 consecutive innings without an earned run while in college. He was 7-3 with a 3.54 ERA as a junior and 5-5 with a 5.61 ERA as a senior. He also played basketball there. He turned pro with the 2009 Windy City Thunderbolts, going 4-3 with a 3.35 ERA in 2009. In 2010, he pitched for Windy City (0-2, 5.56 in 16 G) and the Gateway Grizzlies (1-2, 8.19 in 9 G). Overall, he had a 5-7, 5.26 record in 36 games (17 starts) as a pro with 92 K to 55 BB in 114 2/3 IP.

Ricky was the pitching coach for Lindenwood University in 2011 and the pitching coach / recruiting coordinator for Coker College from 2012-2013. In 2014 he joined the St. Louis Cardinals organization as a Palm Beach Cardinals coach (2014 only) and as a professional scout. He stayed in the latter role through 2019. In late 2017 Meinhold took on the additional title of pitching development analyst for the Cardinals.

Meinhold joined the New York Mets organization in 2020 as their minor league pitching coordinator. He retained that job in 2021 while simultaneously taking on the role of assistant pitching coach for the major league team. He continued to wear both hats in 2022.

He was pitching coach for the US when they won the 2017 U-18 Baseball World Cup.
