Ryder Michael Ryan
- Bats Right, Throws Right
- Height 6' 2", Weight 205 lb.
Ryder Ryan has pitched as high as AAA.
Ryan was taken by the Cleveland Indians in the 40th round of the 2014 amateur draft but went unsigned. He was 2 for 14 as a college freshman and 6 for 26 with two doubles and five walks as a sophomore. He allowed three walks and one run while retiring no one. Despite unimpressive stats, Cleveland was still interested, choosing him in the 30th round of the 2016 amateur draft. The scout was Bob Mayer.
While he had retired no batters in college, he did better as a pro clearly. He was 0-1 with a save and a 3.86 ERA in 15 games for the AZL Indians, striking out 24 in 18 2/3 IP. He began 2017 with the Lake County Captains and had a 3-4, 4.79 record with six saves in 33 games (49 K in 41 1/3 IP) when he was traded to the New York Mets for Jay Bruce. He allowed three runs in thirteen innings for the Columbia Fireflies.
In 2018, he pitched for the St. Lucie Mets (1-0, 2 Sv, 2.77 in 16 G) and Binghamton Rumble Ponies (3-3, 3 Sv, 4.13 in 26 G). He tied Trey Cobb and Matt Pobereyko for 6th in the Mets chain in appearances. For Binghamton in 2019, he went 3-1 with a 3.05 ERA. He completed Harol Gonzalez's no-hitter of the Harrisburg Senators, working the final 2 1/3 IP. The minor league season was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He was on the move again (this time to the Texas Rangers), once more for a guy with multiple All-Star appearances, Todd Frazier.
