Scott Cooper was a two-time All-Star third baseman with the Boston Red Sox, filling the void left by the free agent departure of Wade Boggs following the 1992. He was the lone Sawx rep at the 1993 and 1994 All-Star Games, hitting for the cycle on April 12, 1994 during a 22-11 slugfest with the Kansas City Royals. The Red Sox sent him to the St. Louis Cardinals in 1995 and his production dropped off considerably, finishing his career with a season for the Seibu Lions in 1996 and bit player action with the Kansas City Royals in 1997. After his playing days, Cooper was the head coach at Fontbonne University from 2000-2004.
