The St. Lucie Mets, of the Florida State League and briefly in Low-A Southeast, are owned by their parent club. The New York Mets farmhands play their home games at Clover Park in Port St. Lucie, FL.
MLB's 2021 Minor League Reorganization lowered the Mets, and most of the FSL, one level.
After Heisman Trophy winner and former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow's June 2017 promotion from the Columbia Fireflies, attendance spiked to a season record in less than six weeks. He slugged a home run his first day with these Mets, and on the first pitch he saw when he opened 2018 with Double-A Binghamton, NY.
The former Daytona Beach Admirals moved into what was then named Thomas J. White Stadium after the 1987 season. They made the playoffs in 1988, 1996, 1998, 2003, and 2006 - and each time went on to capture the championship. They should have had a chance to extend the unusual string in 2021, but they didn't play in the post-season despite winning their division. MLB's COVID-19 comeback plan for the 2021 minor-league season did not include playoffs; in July, MLB restored playoffs but tossed the leagues' pre-COVID postseason formats. In Low-A through Double-A, the top two teams in winning percentage - regardless of division standings - made the field, which explains how the Mets lost out.
