Ted Pawelek, who had served in the Marine Corps in World War II, appeared in four games for the Chicago Cubs in September 1946, coming to the field once as a catcher. The regular catcher for the Cubs that year was Clyde McCullough.
His minor league career stretched from 1939 to 1953, with a gap from 1942 to 1945 while he was in the service.
Pawelek managed the Pampa Oilers to 5th place in 1953.
A scout for the Detroit Tigers at the time of his passing, he died in a car crash at age 44.
