Biographical Information[edit]

Starting pitcher Tommy Collier began his professional career in 2011.

He was originally selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 29th round of the 2008 amateur draft, but opted not to sign. He again didn't sign after being taken by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 49th round of the 2009 amateur draft. He finally inked a contract after being drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 22nd round of the 2011 amateur draft, a couple picks ahead of pitcher Aaron Nola.

He went 4-1 with a 1.85 ERA in seven starts for the Connecticut Tigers in 2011 and followed that with a 9-8, 2.74 season for the West Michigan Whitecaps in 2012. His ERA jumped to 4.43 in 2013 and 5.14 in 2014, but fell to 3.70 in 2015. He was a Mid-Season All-Star in 2012 and 2015 and earned Organization All-Star honors in 2012.
