Team History[edit]
The Tucson Sidewinders began play in 1998. They were previously known as the Tucson Toros; they changed their name when they became an affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. They captured the Pacific Coast League championship in 2006. Following the 2008 season, the team moved to Reno, NV. It was the first time since 1969 that Tucson was not in the Pacific Coast League, but the situation did not last long, as the Tucson Padres filled the slot in 2011.
