Our notability criteria don't really discuss the European leagues much. Most of our Division Elite player bios are for French national team members or guys who have also played in the minors (like Hanvi). I don't think lower French league players should have pages, at least until we do a more thorough job on Division Elite. Our notability rules keep expanding out. I personally think anyone active in the top league in their country should be notable. - --Mischa 21:02, 30 December 2008 (EST)

FWIW, here are French national team members the Bullpen links to who don't yet have pages:

When you make new pages for Division Elite players, please include this category on their page: Category:Division Elite Players. Thanks Alex 23:09, 30 December 2008 (EST)

The French baseball federation website has pictures of Lecourieux, Brelle A., Fessy and Le Guillou in their public domain section, where you found some other pics before. - --Mischa 21:32, 3 January 2009 (EST)

I thought the ones under photos disponsibles at their website are in public domain. See Image talk:Joris Bert.png - --Mischa 12:42, 5 January 2009 (EST)

A couple pointers on the French bios:

  • Please add {{DEFAULTSORT:Peron,Flavien}} or {{DEFAULTSORT:Cros,Gregory}} or such at the bottom of each new bio, right ahead of the Category section. This ensures that they will be filed under "P" or "C" respectively instead of under "F" or "G"; that is, players should be filed under their last name and the DEFAULTSORT ensures that this will happen.
  • You can find 2007 and 2008 Division Elite stats on the French baseball federation site:

2007 2008 - I wish stats for the Korea Baseball Organization were so easy to find (to be fair to the KBO, they do a good job on offense and pitching but their defensive stat info is basically non-existant)

Great job overall on these. - --Mischa 21:13, 7 February 2009 (EST)

The Jose Nunez bio doesn't match any existing player and it's probably resume inflation. Let's start with the fact that it claims he was drafted in 1996 and no Jose Nunez was picked by the Mets that year - see this link. This Jose Nunez is the only one who started off with the Mets in '96 but he never made it out of rookie ball, let alone to the majors. - --Mischa 10:12, 10 February 2009 (EST)

The Marco Scutaro bit doesn't make sense as there wasn't a Baseball World Cup in 1992. Maybe a World Junior Championship? The 1992 World Junior Championship was in Monterey, Mexico. - --Mischa 10:01, 30 April 2009 (EDT)

1) Can you find any French-language sources to add to the Boris Rothermundt article? Also, if you want to email him for more info, it's

2) Another one - Sylvain Virey - - --Mischa 20:37, 3 August 2009 (EDT)

I think Division Elite execs should be notable enough. We've included execs from other countries. - --Mischa 09:05, 27 October 2009 (EDT)

1942 CWS photo[edit]

Larry Lester is co-chair of SABR's Negro League Committee and CEO of NoirTech, the company that has copyright control of the photo. He's a friend of mine and was happy to allow its use. I'm considering rewriting the article as a SABR article as well, but it got its start here. -- Couillaud 10:37, 28 October 2010 (EDT)

James Brown[edit]

Just read that James Brown, the Godfather of Soul, almost became a baseball player until a leg injury cut his career short. Wow, what a different world that would be... Oaktree_b 21:51, 28 March 2011 (EDT)

Is that a different Maxime Lefevre photo than you had before? We were asked to remove the other one. - --Mischa 10:22, 17 October 2011 (EDT)

Can you check with User:Neil Paine? He was the one who was contacted that our prior image was not allowed. - --Mischa 15:45, 18 October 2011 (EDT)

Rouen Huskies Images[edit]

I think it's a matter of the copyright holder being the photographer. Here was his message to me:

"The image you use on this link is MINE:

Here's a link to the image on my stock archive:

I am a professional photographer and you violate my intellectual property.

Rouen Huskies HAS NO RIGHT to give you this image and so you have NO RIGHT to use it. Rouen Huskies doesn't have any copyright on this image.

So, I urge you to delete this image from your webiste as soon as possible."

So that leads me to think that any photos by Mr. Elise (lots of French ones I've seen on mister-baseball - he's not just a one-shot guy) should be removed. Have you uploaded any others by him? - --Mischa 20:09, 23 October 2011 (EDT)

Maybe email Mr. Elise and CC the Huskies or vice versa? - --Mischa 09:01, 25 October 2011 (EDT)

Fixed ImportFreeImages[edit]

Sorry for the delay on this. I was able to get it figured out. For my notes I had to give an absolute path to phpFlickr-2.2.0 to get it to work.

Still getting used to the site redesign. Had to put in a new email, wouldn't accept my old one.
