Wen-Po Huang pitched in the Olympics then threw for five years in the Chinese Professional Baseball League.

Huang was a teenager when he helped Taiwan win a Silver Medal at the 1991 Asian Championship. He also won a Silver with Taiwan at the 1992 Olympics; in limited action, he was 1-0 with a 2 2/3 shutout innings and four strikeouts. He allowed no hits but walked two. He got the win over the host Spanish national team.

Wen-Po turned pro in 1995 with the Wei Chuan Dragons, going 5-9 with 3 saves and a 5.14 ERA. He improved to 15-12, 3.81 in 1996, finishing second in the CPBL in wins behind Chin-Hsing Kuo's 20. He was 9-9 with a 3.40 ERA in '97, but starred in the 1997 Taiwan Series, taking MVP honors as his team won it all.

Moving to the China Trust Whales, Huang fell to 4-13, 4.11 with two saves in 1998, walking 63 in 114 innings. He led the league in losses and was 5th in free passes. He gave up two runs in three innings in 1999, his final season, his career over by age 28. He was 33-43 with 5 saves and a 4.03 ERA in 122 career games, with 237 walks in 597 innings.

Huang was pitching coach of the Shanghai Eagles in 2004.

He threw a slider, curveball, splitter and fastball (peak 92 mph)
